Summary By authority of the United States Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability, Tourist Opportunities, and Revived Economies of the Gulf Coast States Act (RESTORE Act), the Gulf Coast Ecosystem Restoration Council manages attempts to revive the coastal ecology of the Gulf of Mexico and the economies of its five bordering states. This site presents environmental assessments, comprehensive restoration plans, classroom lesson plans for teachers, and fact sheets for the general public about clean-up and restoration activities of various agencies since the BP Deepwater Horizon explosion and oil spill of 2010. Also presented is its predecessor site managed by the U.S. Coast Guard, RestoreTheGulf.gov, "the official federal portal for the Deepwater BP oil spill response and recovery."
