Summary The exercise concerns a situation in the housing colony of Centurion General Insurance Company in Vashi, Mumbai where Krishna Garg, Assistant General Manager, HR, heading the sub-committee overseeing the running of the SRC (Sports and Recreation Centre) finds a candidate for a supervisor at the SRC to be someone with whom she has a troubling history. She approaches Ramesh Chandra, Chief General Manager, HR, and shares the details of her experiences and her concerns about his candidature. She frames it as a matter of threat to the safety of vulnerable women and young girls in the colony as the position involves close engagement with the residents. However, the boss dismisses her concerns, saying she should leave the past behind and move on. She insists on involving the Executive Committee of the Residents' Association in the matter. He agrees to do so and sends an email asking for the views of the team. However, she finds that he has treated her concerns summarily and framed the issue very differently from her. Although Garg had taken heart from the belief that a consensus would be needed for a decision to be taken, she is worried about how the Committee members will respond given the way in which Chandra has presented the issue. She is unsure of what she should do in this situation.
