| Summary |
In Muslim Lucknow at the turn of the century a dancer/courtesan dreams of escaping her dishonorable life but, rejected by her husband's family, dies in a graveyard giving birth to a daughter who grows up to become a courtesan as well. The daughter eventually does find happiness in marriage, and acceptance in her father's family. |
